Longevity and Life Expectancy: how long will we all live?
Professor Sarah Harper, Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing

Changes in the demographic profile of many parts of the world brought about by falling fertility rates and longer life expectancy pose some of the greatest challenges for the 21st century. In this lecture Professor Sarah Harper will explore how economic and medical advances are transforming our populations and look at the implications of these unprecedented changes in the global population. Drawing on her research as Co-Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, she will explore the question of how long we will all live.

Professor Sarah Harper is Professor of Gerontology at the University of Oxford. With a background in anthropology, population studies and migration, and after a successful career as an academic and a reporter and producer for the BBC, she founded the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing in 1997. She has been an advisor on many government committees in the UK and abroad, and lectures frequently around the world.
