Pembroke College Drinks in Tokyo

The Master of Pembroke College, Dame Lynne Brindley and the College’s Strategic Development Director Andrew Seton will be in Tokyo briefly in March. There will be a drinks reception in the Keio Plaza Hotel, Tokyo on Monday 23 March for all Pembroke alumni and others with an affiliation to the College.

Pembroke College was founded in 1624 and currently has 620 students of which 365 are undergraduate and 255 are postgraduate. It is located in central Oxford, just off St Aldates. Famous Pembrokians include the well-known scholar Samuel Johnson who created the first Dictionary of the English Language in 1755, and J.R.R. Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings.

Dame Lynne Brindley became Master of Pembroke from 1 August 2013. Before that she was a professional librarian, starting out her career at the Bodleian Library and serving as Chief Executive of the British Library for twelve years until her appointment as Pembroke’s Master.
