New Vice-Chancellor

Professor Louise Richardson has been nominated as the next Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford. She will take up the post on 1 January 2016 subject to approval of Congregation, the University’s parliament. Professor Richardson will succeed current Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Hamilton who will leave in December 2015 to take up his new post of President of New York University.

Professor Richardson is currently Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of St Andrews, a post she has held for over six years. She is also a leading expert and scholar in the field of terrorism and security studies.

The University of Oxford’s Chancellor Lord Patten of Barnes who chaired the Nominating Committee said: “The panel was deeply impressed by Professor Richardson’s strong commitment to the educational and scholarly values which Oxford holds dear. Her distinguished record both as an educational leader and as an outstanding scholar provides an excellent basis for her to lead Oxford in the coming years.”
