Applications for the 2025 Oxford Uehiro St Cross Visiting Programme will be accepted between 15 February and 14 March 2025. This programme is for graduate students, and postdoctoral and senior academics from Japan to spend up to a year as a Visiting Scholar or Visiting Fellow at the Uehiro Oxford Institute. The 2025 programme starts in October 2025 and is expected to last 9 or 12 months.

This Visiting Programme has enabled scholars from Japan to conduct research in Oxford since 2012, first at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, and now at the new Uehiro Oxford Institute. The Uehiro Oxford Institute was established in 2024 through a generous benefaction from the Uehiro Foundation on Ethics and Education. It is part of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and aims to advance well-being and global harmony by fostering world-leading research on the most important and pressing questions facing humankind. The Institute aims not just to further philosophical thought, but also to translate this thought into action, thereby contributing to positive social change at the global level in concrete ways.

Full details about the Programme including information on how to apply can be found here. You can read more about the Institute’s work on their website and also in their Practical Ethics blog.
