The Blavatnik School of Government, established in 2010, is one of the University of Oxford’s newest departments. It exists to inspire and support better government around the world.

The School offers a distinctive global approach to education within a rich, multi-disciplinary and practice-focused curriculum. Its flagship programme is the Master of Public Policy (MPP), an intensive one-year graduate degree that looks at how policy is made, implemented and evaluated at local, regional and global levels. From September 2014, the School will accept students to study for a DPhil in Public Policy, a three-year applied research degree.

The Blavatnik School is truly global, attracting students and faculty from all around the world and looking at government in a global context rather than focussing on a particular country model. Key areas of academic activity are health, welfare and well-being, security and conflict, science and technology, economic growth and resilience and governance, cooperation and law. All of these are built on the strong foundations of Oxford’s 900 year academic traditions.

All Blavatnik School students belong to an Oxford college, ensuring that they benefit from Oxford’s unique multi-disciplinary college system, as well as having a home in the School. The School is currently located in Merton Street, and is expected to move to its new state-of-the-art building (pictured above) from 2015.

The MPP is a highly competitive programme and attracts candidates of the highest calibre from around the world. The School welcomes applications from Japan’s aspiring public leaders. For further information about the School’s programmes, and details about scholarships and funding, please look at the Blavatnik School of Government’s website (www.bsg.ox.ac.uk) or contact the School directly at enquiries@bsg.ox.ac.uk
