A new book has recently been published that was co-edited by Professor Sho Konishi, Associate Professor in Modern Japanese History, and Dr Lewis Bremner and Dr Manimporok Dotulong who are both alumni of the University of Oxford.
The book entitled ‘Reopening the Opening of Japan: Transnational Approaches to Modern Japan and the Wider World’ also features chapters written by many academics who studied at the Nissan Institute or Oxford’s Faculty of History and who are rising stars in the field of Japanese Studies. The book looks at the opening of Japan and how this historical moment is central to our understanding of Japan’s modern history. The book is published by BRILL and more information can be found here.
