There are a number of societies aimed at alumni of the University of Oxford based here in Japan.
The Cambridge and Oxford Society is for alumni of both universities and holds big social events as well as smaller get-togethers every month. They also have an annual golf tournament. It is thought that the society was formed in 1903 originally by alumni of Cambridge, which explains the unusual order of the names. The Society has a chapter in Kansai as well as the group in Tokyo. To find out more about their activities please check their website: The Cambridge and Oxford Society.
The Oxford Alumni Club of Japan evolved after a group of alumni started holding very popular annual networking events in Tokyo. The group was known successively as ‘Oxford Japanologists’ and then ‘Oxford Young Professionals’ before becoming the Oxford Alumni Club of Japan. The Club aims to bring alumni, current and prospective students together primarily at networking and social events in Tokyo. To find out more about their activities please join their Facebook Group.
If you would like to find out about Oxford alumni societies outside Japan, please check the Oxford Alumni Office website. This is also where you can update your contact details to receive information from the University. If you mark that you are living in Japan you also will receive information on events organised the University of Oxford Japan Office, such as academic lectures, and receptions with central University and College leaders.
