The Principal of St Anne’s College, Helen King QPM, will be visiting Japan in July and there will be a drinks reception for all alumnae and those with an affiliation to the College on Tuesday 16 July from 6pm – 8pm in central Tokyo. The Principal is looking forward to seeing alumnae from the area and providing an update on St Anne’s and life at the College.

St Anne’s College is one of the largest colleges in Oxford with over 800 students. The Fellows’ world-leading research ranges across the arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and physical, life and medical sciences. From its founding as the Society of Oxford Home-Students in 1879, the College has always been about widening access to an Oxford education. It uniquely enabled women from the UK and many other countries to attend lectures and tutorials whilst living more flexibly and affordably than the other women’s halls, at home or in lodgings across the city. Since 1952 it has been a full College of the University, welcoming both male and female students since 1979.

Helen King read PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) at St Anne’s College before embarking on a career in the police service, first as a uniformed officer and eventually as Assistant Commissioner in the Metropolitan Police Service. She became Principal of St Anne’s in April 2017.
